To all of the Galaxy Defenders who participated in the McFly USA Film Project…keep sending your videos in! Specifically, we need footage from the people that took part in the film project - those that filmed their journeys and documented their trips to the McFly shows in the USA, regardless if you traveled two blocks down the street to the venue or if you traveled days to get there!
Please upload your files to http://www.wetransfer.com and send it to info@davidspearing.com. For more information, please refer to the McFly USA Film Project’s website.
~ McFly USA - The Film Project.
Are you coming to one of the shows in September? Are you and your friends travelling a long way to get there?
If so… we would love for you to film your journeys as part of McFlys American Documentary film…
Tell us your stories, film your road trip, let us know what these shows mean to you! We will be documenting McFlys trip to America and we would really like to have as many fans as possible involved in telling that story.
If you have a video camera, or DSLR camera with video capability, then start shooting.. The footage should be filmed in PAL (European) not NTSC (USA).
Introduce us to your world, tell us how long you’ve been a fan for, how long you’ve been waiting for McFly to play a show in your country.
Show us your hometowns, your family, your friends.. Show us how McFly has affected your lives.
Film every part of your story and journey to the show you’re attending. The more you film, the more we’ll include.
Be creative and have fun!
Here are a few filmmaking guidelines to help you along your way:
~ Cutaways.
Always get shots of your surroundings. Let us see everything that you see on your journey.
~ Interviews.
Travelling with friends? Interview them… get them to tell you and the camera their McFly stories.
Travelling alone? Film yourself and introduce your story… talk to the camera throughout your trip.
~ Questions.
Where are you from? How long have you been a fan? How many miles are you travelling to see McFly?
Whats your favourite song? How excited are you to see McFly live? Etc….
Once you arrive at the venue, make contact with David Spearing (McFlys cameraman) and he will get all the footage from you to include in his edit of the American Tour film.

The shows are getting closer and closer, so don’t forget to film your journey! :).
We are looking for filmmakers in the LA and NY area to help out with filming some shows during the American tour.
If you or anyone you know is a filmmaker with their own kit (preferably video DSLRs) please get in touch.
Alternatively, if you know of any local film schools near any of the venues, please pass on their details.
Have a look in your cameras manual. If it doesn’t have this setting, then don’t worry.
Anybody who is attending these shows can still submit their videos. Even if you’re walking 2 blocks to the venue in NY, we want to see your story
This is a project for fans attending the American shows. If you’re not attending then I’m afraid we won’t have any use for your footage.
I will have hard drives. So I will transfer footage from your SD cards
Keep it completely unedited. I’ll do all the editing
Have a look through your cameras manual. If you see a PAL/NTSC section then it’ll tell you how to change. Otherwise, don’t worry it should be fine.
If you can get footage on to a hard drive of some kind that would make things quicker. But not totally necessary. just don’t convert any footage from its original format.
If you are travelling to the US from Argentina then film your whole journey.
No that’s great! Film it, tell us your story.
Tweet me @davidspearing and I’ll find you. I’ll be at the venue and will find everyone and get footage from you.
